Documents pertaining to Perpetual Treasuries’ bond deals handed over to PCI

Assistant Director of Information, Technology Department of the Central Bank Wasantha Alwis, yesterday testifying before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the alleged bond scam, submitted several documents with details pertaining to the treasury bonds purchased and subsequently sold by Perpetual Treasures during between Feb. 1, 2015 and March 3, 2016.

Alwis told the Commission that all information regarding Perpetual Treasuries dealings with the Employees Provident Fund on treasury bonds were included in those documents.

He submitted to the Commission a separate document containing details of the transactions of the primary dealers and the secondary Treasury bond market.

The evidence was led by Deputy Solicitor General Milinda Gunatillake.

The Commission will resume sittings next Tuesday at 9.45 a.m.

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry comprises Supreme Court Justice K.T. Chithrasiri (Chairman), Supreme Court Justice Prasanna Jayawardena and retired Deputy Auditor General V. Kandasamy.
