Kamesh’s century sets up crushing win for Ananda

Left-arm spinner Nadeesha Karunaratne took five wickets and Kamesh Nirmal scored a century as Ananda Collge, Colombo commenced their second round of the Inter School Under-17 Division I tournament with a crushing 129-run victory over St. Xavier’s College, Marawila at Chilaw on Thursday.


Put to bat Nirmal top-scored with 118 runs inclusive of ten fours and five sixes. His knock came in 122 balls. Kalana Wijesiri and Dasun Tharaka came up with valuable contributions of 37 and 22.


In their essay St. Xavier’s were bowled out for 109 runs. Spinner Karunaratne picked up five wickets.

Spinners guide Thurstan to victory at Kalutara


Spinners Binara Ranatunga and Rashmika Hiripitiya took three wickets each to lead Thurstan to a 61-run victory over Kalutara Vidyalaya in their Under-17 Division I second round match played at Kalutara on Thursday.
