KANDY – Special Assignments Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama after opening a new road in the Galagedera electorate urged people to elect educated and competent persons to Parliament.

Dr. Amunugama warned that the corrupt should not be supported merely because they were relations, neighbours and had other personal connections.

Dr. Amunugama opened the new road connecting Girihagama and Galagedara via Kopiwatta. The road was constructed at a cost of Rs. 2 million.

When illiterate and immoral characters were elected to parliament they would be more corrupt and totally ignore the very people who voted them to power, Dr. Amunugama said.

The representatives of the people should be capable of finding solutions to the problems their electorates were faced with, the minister said.

The responsibility of the voters was to choose the correct individual to be elected if the voters wanted to have their problems solved, he said.

Dr. Amunugama said that he gad represented the Galagedara electorate for the past twenty five years continuously and got all motorable roads carpeted.
