Minister Abeywardena tells public servants to work fearlessly after studying FRs and ARs

KANDY: Home Affairs and Public Administration Minister Vajira Abeywardena said in Kandy that public servants should know the Financial Regulations and the Administrative Regulations (AR) well and then implement the state policies without fear or favour.

Minister Vajira Abeywardena said so, presiding at a conference of Kandy District Grama Niladharis at the Kandy Cultural Centre hall, on Thursday (28).

Grama Niladharis played an important role in implementing policies of the government for the benefit of the people, he said.

The Minister said a specialist doctor in government service would receive a monthly salary of Rs. 120,000 in 2020. He paid a tribute to the hard-working and devoted public servants.

There were many peole who had no National Identity Cards (ID cards) and there were also those without birth certificates. Many people also didn’t have title deeds for their lands, the Minister noted, stressing the importance of conducting mobile services to help them.

Secretary to the ministry Neil de Alwis said Grama Niladharis and Development Officers whose performances were excellent would be given training in foreign countries.

Central Province Governor Niluka Ekanayake and Kandy district secretary H. M. P. Hitisekera also addressed the meeting.

Kandy District MP Mayantha Dissanayake, Central Provincial Council member Padmalal de Alwis and former Mayor of Kandy and UNP Chief Organiser of Kandy Kesara D. Senanayake were present.
