Corruption trial against MP Abeygunawardena on Nov 24

The Colombo High Court yesterday fixed for Nov. 24 the trial against Rohitha Abeyagunawardena, the former Minister and UPFA Parliamentarian, who is accused of corruption by the permanent commission to investigate allegations of bribery or corruption.


The complainant said Abeygunawardena had accumulated within two years and four months wealth amounting up to Rs. 41.2 million.


The alleged offence was commuted while he was a minister in the last regime. Counsel Niroshan Siriwardene appeared for the accused.
