Vaas opts out of India tour

Former great Chaminda Vaas who is the Bowling Coach of Sri Lanka Under-19 team has opted out of the team’s upcoming tour of India.

‘The Island’ learns that Sri Lanka Cricket was keen to take only two coaches on the tour and Vaas had opted out allowing Head Coach Roy Dias and Fielding Coach Upul Chandana to accompany the team to India.

Vaas has instead agreed to stay back and work with the players who were not selected for the tour.

The highly knowledgeable former left-arm paceman has done an excellent job with the up-and-coming fast bowlers.

Apart from working with the Sri Lankan senior side, Vaas also has worked with other international teams like New Zealand and Ireland.

Incidentally, SLC has decided to send two selectors for the tour.
