The new flyover built at Polgahawela will be opened by Higher Education and Highways Minister, Lakshman Kiriella at 10.00 am on January 17.

The link, constructed across the railway line joining the Polgahawela-Kurunegala road, will provide a long-term solution to heavy traffic congestion in the area.

The two lane flyover, built at a cost of Rs. 2.2 billion, has a total length of 353m. It will facilitate free flow of traffic on the Polgahawela-Kurunegala road.

The construction of the flyover was handled by a Spanish Construction Company together with a local partner. The project was supervised by the Road Development Authority.

The Rajagiriya  and Ganemulla  flyovers were opened on January 8 and 11 respectively.
