London Thames Buddhist Vihara New Year blessing ceremony

On January 1, 2018, a special all-day ceremony to invoke blessings on devotees for the new year was organised by Young Buddhists, Dhamma School & Thames Meditation Society under the guidance of Most Ven. Pahalagama Somarathana, Chief Sanghanayake of United Kingdom and the head of the London Thames Buddhist Vihara and Gampaha Pahalagama Vidyaravinda Pirivena, Ven. Kohukumbure Siridhamma and Ven. Dombawala Amitha.


At 9.00 am and 3.00 pm, religious observances and a pirith chanting ceremony were held to bless the devotees. More than 500 devotees visited the temple throughout the day to receive blessings for the new year.


At 7.00 pm, the day’s religious activities came to an end with a special Nawa Arahadi Buddha pooja and jaya pirith chanting led by the venerable Maha Sangha.
