Launching the first international luxury resort investment worth US$ 50 million on the East coast of Sri Lanka, Sri Nithya Omkarananda, managing director of PURA Resorts Inc and director of corporate affairs, Ideal Group of Canada said in Colombo recently that they would build their luxury vacation homes in Nilaveli, not to compete with any local luxury resorts, but to compete with and surpass all other luxury resort brands in the Asian region.

"The whole idea of PURA is to build the best luxury resort villas in the best location of the region when all discerning, selective and sophisticated clients' eyes are on Sri Lanka. "The last couple of years I travelled back and forth with this project in mind, and today we are proud to announce the launch of this ambitious project. Preserving the pristine Nilaveli beach, its surrounding virgin environment and lush greenery is key here, for us. When we do that, it would be another key selling point. That's why the ratio of the built area and the open space of the project is going to be 18% to 82% respectively", he explained.

"The 50 luxury resort chalets and 62 luxury island homes are planned to be completely built by April 2020 on the pristine beaches of Nilaveli, Trincomalee. PURA Luxury Resort Villas is the very first investment by us and we are mulling two other luxury residential projects in Nuwaraeliya-Maskeliya and Wilpaththu areas", he said.

Ideal Developments' founder is a Sri Lankan-Canadian named Shaji Nada. Ideal Group develops residential and commercial real estate throughout Greater Toronto as well as internationally to maximise tranquility, luxury and environmental sustainability at coastal retreats through conceptual designs embedded in unparalleled features.

Omkarananda further speaking said,"PURA's entire concept is built around having five-star resorts and vacation resorts in destinations that have untouched beauty raw, virgin surroundings, lush greenery and large trees that form the backdrop to oceans, waterfalls and rivers, basically, offering nature, paradise, luxury, joy and inspiration. Renowned architect Philip Weeraratne's signature designs combine visual richness and tactile stimuli, drawing the guest into the property’s folds".

"To make this investment more attractive, the properties are included into the resort rental pool when unoccupied by the owner, generating him or her revenues, while also enabling Sri Lankan expatriates to have a second home without the hassle of finding suitable property and constructing it," he pointing out.

The price of a PURA luxury resort villa starts from Rs. 105 million.
