Navy Sports Club booked their place in the semi-finals of the Dialog Clifford Cup beating Police Sports Club by 36-28 points in their quarter-final encounter worked out at the Race Course International Stadium, Colombo on Friday.


The league runner-up, Navy came into the match as clear favourites as they led 17-14 in half-time, they went onto score five tries in response to the four tries scored by Police.


The cops commenced scoring through Wajid Fawmy but the sailors responded with tries from skipper Dulanjana Wijesinghe and Harsha Maduranga.


Suranga Kasun scored two tries, either side of the half-time as Police took the lead in this all-important fixture but some exceptional try-scoring prowess was then showed by Charith Silva, Thilina Weerasinghe and skipper Wijesinghe to help Navy reach the final four in the club rugby knockout tournament.
