Aryasinha asked to attend Geneva HRC sessions

Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative in Geneva Ravinatha Aryasinha has been asked to continue to be there till the conclusion of United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) sessions scheduled to commence on Monday (Feb. 26).

The sessions will continue till March 31.

Earlier, Aryasinha was instructed to return by the end of this month.

Aryasinha will be replaced by career diplomat A. L. A. Azeez.

Outgoing human rights chief Zeid bin Ra’ad al-Hussein is scheduled to present a mid-term assessment on implementation of Geneva Resolution 30/1 co-sponsored by Sri Lanka on Oct 1, 2015
