Govt delegation to leave for Geneva next Monday

A delegation representing the Sri Lankan government will leave for Geneva next Monday (19) to participate in the UN Human Rights Council sessions

The Sri Lanka delegation comprises Minister of Foreign Affairs Tilak Marapana, Special Assignments Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Head of the Secreteriat for Coordinating Reconciliation Mechanisms (SCRM), Mano Tittawella, Deputy Solicitor General Nerin Pulle, Advisor to the Prime Minister Prashanthi Mahindaratne, and Director-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mahishini Colonne.

In terms of resolution 34/1 of 23 March 2017, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is required to present to the 37th session a written update on the implementation of resolution 30/1 on promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka.

Already delegations from Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and several non-governmental organizations are in Geneva.
