Govt. urged to provide adequate facilities to PCoI

By Rathindra Kuruwita

Officials of the Attorney General’s Department yesterday requested the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI), on irregularities at SriLankan Airlines, SriLankan Catering and Mihin Lanka to request the Presidential Secretariat to provide it with adequate resources after yesterday’s session had to be adjourned as the PCoI secretariat failed to provide minutes of Monday’s proceedings.

Attorney General’s Department officials wanted to examine Monday’s proceedings to continue questioning Indika Roshan Gunawardena, who represented the Department of Registrar of Companies. However,

it was revealed the PCoI Secretariat would be able to hand over the document yesterday evening.

Thus Retired Supreme Court Judge Anil Goonaratne, who is the President of the Commission, adjourned the proceedings and directed the PCoI Secretariat to provide Monday’s and yesterday’s minutes at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the session. It was also agreed to inform the Board of Investment (BoI) that it did not have to send a representative to give evidence today.
