He told The Island yesterday that the CMC would have to continue the programmes to keep the situation under control.

Responding to a query, the official admitted that mice remained a problem in the area close to the Colombo harbour. According to him in spite of the shortage of funds, the CMC had been able to continue with the project.

Dr. Kariyawasam said that of a Rs. 20 million allocation for pest control, about Rs. 04 million had been allocated for the mice eradication project.
