Sri Lanka Men’s National Sevens Rugby Team flew to France to take part in the Paris World Games sevens competition that will be held on July 7 and 8.

This tour has been organized by Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) in order to prepare for the upcoming Asian Sevens Circuit next month. Before the tournament, the team will undergo a coaching camp conducted by coach Peter Woods.

The team will be led by hard-working forward Sudarshana Muthuthanthri with plenty of young and experienced players in the mix.

Recently, under Muthu’s leadership, Sri Lanka had a reasonably good campaign at the Commonwealth Games going head to head with the heavyweights in the world rugby sevens arena.

"This will be a good opportunity for the boys since there will be many regional as well as national teams playing. So it will be a good exposure for the side," Sri Lanka Rugby CEO Priyantha Ekanayake said.

Sri Lanka will be playing their first game against Leopard Sevens followed by Ocean’s Seven and Club HEC respectively on the first day of the tournament.

Based on the group rankings, the top two teams will qualify for the semi-finals that will kick off on day two while the lower two sides will play the 5th/6th playoff.
