Corruption case against A’gamage: Trial in Oct.

Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Abeykoon yesterday, fixed for October 10, the trial against, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, UPFA member of parliament for the Kandy District.

He has been indicted with having misappropriated Rs. 27 million, to purchase a home at Kynsey Road, Colombo 8, while he was a cabinet Minister of the former government. The value of the property had exceeded his declared income, during that period. Counsel Kanchana Ratwatte, appeared for the accused, Aluthgamage.

Deputy Solicitor General Thusitha Mudaliga appeared for the Attorney General.

The accused has been granted bail. His passport is in the custody of the court.
