Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been summoned to the CID today to make a statement on the abduction and torture of senior journalist Keith Noyahr in 2008.

Rajapaksa has been asked to arrive at the CID HQ at 10 am. This is the second time Rajapaksa has been asked to give a statement on the incident. Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate Lochana Abeywickrama Monday directed the CID to question Rajapaksa and former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka on the abduction and torture of the senior journalist, who has since taken asylum in Australia.

CID sources said that Rajapaksa would be questioned on the basis of information revealed by Director of Military Intelligence at the time of the incident, Amal Karunasekara who was detained by the police over the abduction. Former Army Commander and Minister Sarath Fonseka will also be questioned in the coming days.

Noyahr was abducted on May 22, 2008 at around 10 pm near his house in Dehiwala.
