Police hand over one of ‘contaminated’ milk packets to Govt. Analyst

Police have handed over to the Government Analyst one of the milk packets that were allegedly poisoned before being given to the Joint Opposition members who took part in the Jana Balaya Colambata protest last week.

Police said that the milk packet sent the Government Analyst had been handed over to them by a complainant.

Last week some Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and JO politicians alleged that groups backed by a UNP MP had distributed packets of contaminated milk among participants of Jana Balaya Colambata protest, causing the victims to be hospitalised.

Minister of Law and Order, Ranjith Madduma Bandara said that there was no basis for those rumours and that it was a story manufactured by the Opposition.
