Twelve Muslim MPs go on Haj pilgrimage

By Saman Gamage

Twelve MPs representing the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and All Ceylon People’s Congress left for Mecca on Hajj pilgrimage on Wednesday night. These parties are constituents of the UNP-led United National Front

Among them were the leaders of the two parties Rauff Hakeem and Rishad Bathiudeen.

They are scheduled to return on November 13.

The number of MPs representing the UNF has decreased to 85 as a result. Speculation is rife that a vote will be taken on Nov. 14, when Parliament is reconvened.
