‘Shallow’ start at charity event

…while Des revved it up

I write to thank you for the excellent review of Desmond de Silva’s concert, held on August 31st, at the BMICH.

I was there with my family and we enjoyed every second of the legendary singer’s performance.

The show was well presented, slick, and very entertaining – quite in contract to the charity concert I and my family attended last month, at the Nelun Pokuna theatre, and featuring a galaxy of stars.

While Desmond’s show got off to an excellent start, with the song "Late In The Evening," the charity concert opened with the song "Shallow" and that, too, after a long wait.

It was an inauspicious opener and the charity show never really reached dizzy heights.

Of course, as you quite rightly mentioned, in your review, Desmond de Silva is an entertainer par excellent.

Our present day artistes can’t hold a candle to him – he is streets ahead of the rest, both as a performer and entertainer.

Well done Desmond de Silva. Do come to Sri Lanka, more often, and oblige your legion of fans with more superlative performances.
