Petition against election posters to be taken up on November 13

By Chitra Weerarathne

The Court of Appeal yesterday fixed November 13 as the date for calling the petition filed by the Centre for Environmental Justice complaining that the pasting of election posters cause visual pollution. The practice should be stopped by a mandatory order of the court.

Counsel Ravindranath Dabare appeared for the petitioner.

The Attorney General informed the court that the President had approved the request to prevent the pasting of posters. The order will be gazetted shortly.

The bench comprised Justice Achala Wengappuli.
