Shalinda, Ashian account for 14 wickets as Joes win

The left-arm right-arm spin combination of Shalinda Seneviratna and Ashian Daniel was responsible for 14 wickets as St. Joseph’s cruised to a ten wickets victory over De Mazenod in the Under-19 Division I tournament group ‘A’ match which ended with a session to spare at Kandana on Friday.

The stage for the Joes’ first outright victory was set by the spinners who restricted the home team to 109 runs before Dineth Jayakody (75) and Miranga Wickramage propelled the Joes to 207 runs. In the second essay the home team lasted just over 35 overs as Seneviratna and Daniel once again shared seven wickets between them to restrict De Mazenod to 114 runs.
