Enhance Salu Sala standards

On Tuesday I bought a few metres of bed sheeting fabric from Salusala at Jawatte Road, Colombo. The product was of very good quality, locally made and cheap. The staff were friendly, cheerful and ever ready to help. Their knowledge of the product was immense. Sadly, the shop was a sight of total neglect and had a terribly unloved look. The whole place was crumbling and the lino on the floor was a death trap. Obviously, no money is spent on improving the welfare of its staff or the store, which looked like it was about to close down.

Whoever is in charge of Salusala, please bring the smile back on this once happy place. They need to encourage and engage local craftspeople and artisans to sell their products through Salusala, which was once a flagship store, brimming and spilling over with hundreds of handcrafted ready to wear garments and renowned for beautifully designed handloom products.
