The Chief Sanga Nayake of Great Britain and Head of London Buddhist Vihara, Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala thera has been invited to the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. He is the first Buddhist monk to be invited to such a royal celebration.

The prelate said that he will be joining the 1,700-strong congregation at Westminster Abbey on April 29 representing the Buddhists. "This will be an honour".

He recalled that Prince Charles, father of Prince William, visited the London Buddhist Vihara after the tsunami hit Sri Lanka in 2004 and he had shown a lot of interest in Buddhism.

Ven. Seelawimala believes that Prince William too will follow his father’s footsteps and visit London Buddhist Vihara one day after his marriage.
