A special Vesak zone, the ‘Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya’ is to be set up by the MTV/MBC and its holding company the Capital Maharaja Organisation. The zone will be in effect for three days commencing on the May 17 around the Capital Maharaja Organisation head office premises down Dawson Street in Braybrooke Place, leading up to the Empire roundabout in Colombo.
The specialty of this ‘Sirasa Vesak Kalapaya’ will be Sri Lanka’s longest ever pandal -396 feet in length and 20 feet high, lit up by over 78,000 bulbs. An exposition of relics of the Buddha’s closest disciples will also take place.
Bakthi gee will also be sung within the vesak zone by artistes such as Nanda Malini, Victor Ratnayake, Latha Walpola, Dayaratne Ranathunga, Amara Ranathunga, Deepika Priyadarshini and Nirosha Virajini. ‘Dansals,’ will be established within the MTV/MBC vesak zone for devotees and patrons.
