The Europa Philharmonic in Sri Lanka

Goethe-Institut and Mount Lavinia Hotel will present one of the classical music highlights in 2011: The renowned Europa Philharmonie, conducted by Reinhard Seehafer, which will visit Sri Lanka and perform three concerts at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

The Europa Philharmonie is a European symphony orchestra made up of musicians from European Union countries as well as musicians from all over the world who have made Europe their home. Since 2009, the orchestra has been based in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Under the motto "Music for a better place" rise the Europa Philharmonie to the problems of the 21st century, the sound of the traditions, filled with life, raising cultural sustainability to the sense of doing and enrich the present and the future for future generations.

In Sri Lanka the Europa Philharmonie in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut and the Mount Lavinia Hotel are setting up three performances - one of them especially for children. The concert program includes compositions by Bach, Vivaldi ("The four seasons"), and Mozart. The orchestra will perform in a chamber set up, consisting of 15 musicians. The solo violin parts will be performed by the young Hungarian violinist Sándor Jávorkai, a rising star in the classical music scene who won several awards on international musical competitions.

The evening concerts are scheduled for Monday, July 18 and Tuesday, July 19 from 7:30 pm onwards. On Wednesday, July 20 there will be special performance for children.

The tour of Europa Philharmonie is sponsored by Oman Air, Dimo / Mercedes-Benz, Allianz Insurance, and Herrenknecht Tunneling Systems.
