Nearly 50 scouts were awarded with Novices Horsemen Badges in front of a large gathering at a ceremony held at the Premadasa Riding School at Nugegoda yesterday.

Equestrian, the art of horse riding, has come one step forward as the Sri Lanka Scouts Association and the Sri Lanka Equestrian Association are joining hands to develop the sport.

According to Suranjith Premadasa, President, Sri Lanka Equestrian Association, the sport has been set aside for the past few decades due to lack of opportunity and training facilities but now it has reached a better status due to efforts of the above institutions during the last two years.
