Dayasiri challenges graduate recruitment procedure in SC

By Chitra Weerarathne

J. P. Dayasiri Jayasekera, UNP Member of Parliament for Kurunegala District yesterday complained to the Supreme Court that, the Minister of Public Administration, the Secretary to the Ministry, the Director General Combined Services and the District Secretary for the Hambantota District had violated the rightful hopes of 5000 graduates, by conducting a politically favoured recruitment scheme in employing graduates under the procedure operating after February 16, 2012.

The petitioner had said that since an arbitrary and a politically discriminatory scheme had been implemented, the Supreme Court should direct the fifth respondent, the District Secretary for Hambantota, to submit to the Supreme Court, notes of the fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth interviews and a list of the appointments made for the Hambantota District.

The petitioner had further requested the Court to direct the Secretary to the Treasury to give details of the salaries paid to them, and also to direct all the respondents to give details of unemployed graduates, awaiting recruitment.
