‘Super Six’ scores Rs. 10.5 million in first week

Taking the box office by storm, ‘Super Six’ which premiered on May 17, has achieved a whopping Rs. 10.5 million in sales during its first week of screening. This figure ranks among the best achieved to date in Sinhala commercial cinema,

This blockbuster movie is an Udara Palliyaguruge film, produced by R. Sadesh Kumar and Srimathi Sadesh Kumar. The movie has scored another ‘first’ by being simultaneously released in Sri Lanka and India, with the latter being subtitled in Hindi, Kuma Attanayake, media spokesman for Real Image said.

‘Super Six’ is also the highest budget Sinhala movie to date, with Rs, 99.0 million spent on its production alone, while considerable sums were spent on promoting it, The movie has a cast of 160 and was shot in Sri Lanka, India. Malaysia and the Andaman Islands, he said.

"A big budget movie such as ‘Super Six’ with its large cast and crew is indeed a blessing for the Sri Lankan film industry, as it provides employment opportunities for a large number of people, while also offering professional inputs and exposure to the latest aesthetic and technical developments in the industry", Attanayake noted.

Featuring a thrilling plot, stellar cast and lilting lyrics, ‘Super Six’ has been hailed as a joyous cinematic experience for the whole family in three decades, bringing back the glory of Sinhala cinema at its highest level of achievement.
