June 24, 2012, 9:44 pmSri Lanka Under-19 recorded their second consecutive victory in the ongoing Under-19 Asia Cup, as they defended a rather low score of 183 runs, to beat Bangladesh by 43 runs at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday.
While Sandun Weerakkody excelled for a second consecutive day in the batting department, top scoring with 69 runs, spinners Amila Aponso and Tharindu Kaushal shared seven wickets between them to restrict Bangladesh to 140 runs.
Deciding to bat first, the Lankans lost their first three wickets for 31 runs, but Jason Perera (47) and Weerakkody (69), battled on for Sri Lanka, with a stand of 90 runs for the fourth wicket.
In their essay, Bangladesh were bowled out for 140 runs in 38 overs.
Aponso, who picked up four wickets for 37 runs in his 10 overs, was adjudged the Man of the Match.
On Saturday Sri Lanka Under-19 beat Afghanistan Under-19 by four wickets, where Tharindu Kaushal was adjudged the Man of the Match. Kaushal took four wickets to restrict Afghanistan to 129 runs. Paceman Ranitha Liyanarachchi picked up three wickets. In their innings, Sri Lanka struggled, but managed to reach the target with 13 overs to spare, as Weerakkody top scored with 42.
