No question of SF, Arjuna joining UNP just yet

Kalutara District Democratic National Alliance parliamentarian Arjuna Ranatunga yesterday said that the question of General Sarath Fonseka or him joining the United National Party did not arise at the amount.
Speaking to The Island the World Cup winning captain Ranatunga said that their first priority was to topple the corrupt UPFA government by forming a common Opposition platform. He said that the DNA had not taken a decision to join the UNP, but would form a common Opposition to end corruption and restore the rule of law in the country.
The people should be made aware of what exactly was happening in the country, Ranatunga said, adding that the DNA would travel to all parts of the country to keep the people informed of the current situation.
Ranatunga said that the major issues facing the people now were the cost of living, the law and order situation and sexual violence against women and children.
He blamed the party leaders, who give nomination to bookie owners, casino kingpins and drug barons. Those individuals should not be given nomination to contest any election, he said, stressing that anti-social elements rejected by one party should not be accepted by another.
