Olympics coverage: Restraining order on MTV suspended

The Supreme Court yesterday suspended the order given by the Commercial High Court, restraining the Maharajah Television Network Pvt. Limited and the Maharajah Broadcasting Corporation from pre-advertising, telecasting and broadcasting the Summer Olympics 2012, in London.
The MTV/MBC had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court citing as the respondent, the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation who had claimed sole publicity rights in respect of the Olympics.
Romesh de Silva PC, appeared with Sugath Caldera and Viraj de Silva instructed by G. G. Arulpragasam for the appellant MTV/MBC.
Palitha Kumarasinghe PC appeared with Sanath Wijewardena for the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
The Bench comprised the Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake, Justice N. G. Amaratunga and Justice K. Sripavan.
