Ranil denies inviting Fonseka

Apropos our news item, Ranil’s invitation to SF a trap –– reformists on July 21, UNP and Opposition leader Ranil Wickram-asinghe has said:
"I have no intention of inviting SF or anyone else to join the UNP.
"The UNP Working Committee decided that if SF is interested in joining the UNP, he can apply.
"The statement that I had issued orders to Parliamentarians not to get involved with SF is also wrong. The Working Committee reiterated the position that the UNP cannot take part in activities concerning other political parties without the permission of the General Secretary.
"The Party constitutional
amendment was a result of the proposal made by the Srinath Perera Committee report. This report also made reference to Lal Perera and all those directing attack on Sirikotha."
