Roadshow on ‘Career Opportunities in the Hotel, Travel, Airline & Tourism Industry’

As the tourism industry grows there will be an acute shortfall in specialist human resources. The lack of skilled personnel will be detrimental to service standards. If we are to attract high yield travellers we need to be equipped with a large workforce and a calibre that can deliver high quality sevice standards in the years to come. A huge demand for well trained staff has been identified by members of the industry.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka will be conducting a Career guidance Roadshow on "Career Opportunities in the Hotel,Travel,Airline and Tourism Industry" on the 7th of August 2012 at the Hilton Colombo from 9.00 a.m to 12.00 Noon. They intend inviting students/trainees from Schools and Institutions that conduct Hotel, Travel, Airline and Tourism related courses and also other prospective recruits to the industry and job seekers to participate at this event.

Four speakers from the Hotel, Travel, Airline & Tourism sectors will address the participants. Each speaker will be allowed 15 minutes to provide an introduction and insight in to their respective sectors. They will cover the opportunities and prospects available, career paths and benefits on offer. They will in addition, explain briefly the requirements/qualifications needed to join their respective industries.

Thereafter the prospective recruits to the industry and job seekers will have an opportunity to visit Desks and Counters set up by members of the industry and obtain information and guidance re the sectors they wish to join. This would provide an opportunity for the participants to gather all the relevant information they require with relation to the Industry they wish to enter and embark on their careers. It is expected that the Roadshow will create an awareness in the minds of the participants with regard to the prospects and opportunities that exist in the industry.
