They won’t betray UNP

Three top UNP parliamentarians scotched off rumours that they were planning to cross over to government ranks very soon.


Colombo District’s Wijedasa Rajapakshe, a vociferous critic of the UPFA government, said that he would never act against his conscience.


Badulla District’s Harin Fernando said that as the youngest Parliamentarian, he had enough time and therefore would exercise patience. He said he had no need to defect to the government ranks.


Kurunegala District’s Dayasiri Jayasekera is away In Bangkok and due back early next week. Before his departure, Dayasiri said that he would never leave the UNP to join the government, although he is opposed to the dictatorial attitude of UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and his proposed party constitution amendments.


Minister of Social Services and Gampaha District Parliamentarian Felix Perera said that four or five UNP MP’s will join government. However he did not name them.
