Sirisena trying to cover up corruption in Health Ministry

By making ludicrous statements

Condemning the public pronouncement that Ranil Wickremesinghe betrayed UNP presidential candidate Gamini Dissanayake’s campaign tactics to his rival candidate Chandrika Kumaratunga, during the 1994 Presidential Election, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake challenged Minister Maithripala Sirisena to substantiate his claim.

The Minister is trying to gain cheap political mileage by such unfounded statements, he said. "Eighteen years after the election, he appears to have suddenly got up from deep slumber to make such ludicrous claims".

He said that the Minister need not go begging for votes by making such absurd statements if he had served the people of his district and the country at large. The masses will not give credence to these statements by a Minister who is trying to cover up the corruption, fraud and irregularities in the Health Ministry.
