CPC: ‘Puppet on a String’

"Take my heart and please be fair Handle it with loving care For I’m just a ‘puppet on a string’ You can do ‘most anything to me"
The Island, in its main news item on August 17, quoted Harry Jayawardena as saying that he was under fire over the reinstatement of Vitol, though he had been nothing but a puppet in the CPC as far as the decision making process in the institution was concerned.
Talking of CPC, I just cannot skip my school days, as I wrote to you few month ago on, ‘Free-bun Boycott’ by school children in 1962, at the behest of PM Sirimavo, who braved super power threats on withdrawal of PL480 wheat flower donation, over the nationalisation of the US based Oil giants to create the national asset the CPC, which has become a monster in recent years.
It is unbelievable that the confession comes from a person of the calibre of Harry J! Is there any puppeteer equal to the task of manipulating a ‘puppet’ like Harry?
