The two army personnel have lodged a complaint at the Slave Island police. A police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the duo was evading arrest.

In his complaint, the army officer had told the police that they have gone to the apartment hotel to meet some persons and Malaka who had arrived there, accompanied by a group of men, had asked for a cigarette from him while they were coming down in an elevator and he had obliged. Then, the Minister’s son had asked for a lighter and the officer had told him he didn’t have one. Malaka Silva on July 24, 2005 had allegedly assaulted a group of policemen at the ‘My Kind of Place’ night club at the Taj Samudra hotel when a team from the Anti-Narcotics Bureau entered it to check for possible drug addicts on information received. The head of Anti-Narcotics Bureau, SSP Ananda Hettiarachchi was seriously injured in the attack and lost a few teeth after he was punched by Malaka Silva on the face.

Following that incident, the Court barred Malaka Silva from entering night clubs.
