Views expressed by the UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena and John Amaratunga at the 59th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) sessions, now in progress, had disturbed the party reformists. Lal Perera, Secretary of the Movement to Protect the UNP and its Trade Unions said yesterday.
Perera said that by their support for a proposal to appoint a Commissioner for Democracy, Rule of Law and Human Rights to monitor member countries, they had driven another nail into the UNP’s coffin.
