Royal Park: Danish woman injured in attack

 The police have arrested a 22-year-old Sri Lankan youth for inflicting cut injuries on a 29-year-old Danish woman’s neck in a super market at the Royal Park Housing complex, Rajagiriya, yesterday evening.


A senior police officer said the arrest had been made last night after the super market made available the video footage of the incident.


The police said that the victim had been there to buy some items when the youth attacked her. The police identified the victim and her husband as employees of an NGO.


The Welikada police said that the suspect had returned from the US recently along with his family and was staying at the Royal Park. According to the police the victim’s husband was expected to return last night.


The police said that the suspect was being interrogated.


Meanwhile, a spokesman for the National Hospital told The Island that doctors had performed an emergency operation on the injured woman and moved her to Ward No 73.
