SSP Jayakody returns as police spokesman

Senior Superintendent of Police Prishantha Jayakody re-assumes duties as Police Spokesman this morning, while incumbent Ajith Rohana takes over as Head of the Ampara Division police.

SSP Jayakody confirmed this change to The Island last night.

Jayakody had previously served as the police spokesman and was succeeded by SSP Maxi Proctor when he went to Haiti as the Head of the Sri Lanka Contingent of the UN peace keeping mission there.

SSP Maxi Proctor was later replaced by Superintendent Ajith Rohana, who assumed duties in the post on October 18, 2011.

There were unconfirmed reports that SSP Rohana himself had asked for a transfer from the IGP due to certain constraints he had faced, but he could not be contacted for comment at the time of going to press.
