Chairman of the Nawaloka Group of Companies Deshamanya H. K. Dharmadasa yesterday said anyone could build a successful business if he faces the challenges courageously. Dharmadasa said that the government had created an environment conducive to launch new business ventures.

Addressing a press conference at the Nawaloka head office, Dharmadasa announced a series of celebrations planned to coincide with his birthday on Saturday (19) and Silver jubilee celebrations of the Nawaloka Hospital. The veteran businessman emphasised the importance of facing challenges determinedly.

Addressing the press, Presidential Advisor and Veteran Actor Ravindra Randeniya said that Dharmadasa had set a sterling example to Sri Lankans. He had launched his business in a small way, but gradually expanded his interests to many fields at a time the country was struggling in a post-independence era. Through the years, he had built his business empire - starting small from hotels to a hospital with four hundred rooms and a separate theatre complex," Randeniya said.

The birthday celebrations would be held at the BMICH with as much as seven hundred invitees. There would be dance performances by the Channa and Upuli Dance troupe, singing and cutting of the birthday cake," Randeniya said.

The translated edition of H. K. Dharmadasa’s biography titled ‘Son of the Soil,’ would be launched at the occasion. The book, first written in Sinhala (Nawalowa Nawa Hiru) by author Bandara Eheliyagoda in 2008, was translated into English on the request by Daya Dissanayake.
