Father and son both President’s counsel

when Faiszer Musthapha was sworn in yesterday as President’s Counsel at a Ceremonial Sitting of the Supreme Court, presided over by the Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake.

Faiszer Musthapha, is the son of the President’s Counsel Faisz Musthapha. Thus, for the first time in the history of the legal profession in Sri Lanka, a father and son have become practising President’s Counsel.

Furthermore, Faiszer Musthapha, being a parliamentarian and Deputy Minister of Technology and Research joins the select band of parliamentarians who have been appointed President’s Counsel. The late Ministers M. H. M. Ashraff, Lalith Athulathmudali, Lakshman Kadiragamar, Tyronne Fernando, former Minister K. N. Choksy and present parliamentarian Wijayadasa Rajapakshe are among the other politicians who have donned ‘Silks’
