Coalition against Corruption seeks public support

The Coalition against Corruption last week appealed to government officials and the public to forward all instances of bribery, corruption and other malpractices with sufficient evidence to substantiate.

The Coalition was launched on October 31 with the participation of trade unions, civil society organisations, professionals, academics, media personnel and artistes.

The Coalition hopes to present such instances of malpractices to the Commission on Investigation into Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), Parliamentary Oversight Committees, the Auditor General and other relevant authorities for necessary action, a news release said.

The Coalition is also keen to take steps to reduce malpractices in relation to the use of public property, work to strengthen the Parliamentary Committees on Financial Matters, seek the introduction of legislation towards transparency of public finance, stop malpractices leading to the breakdown on the rule of law, agitate for the setting up of a People’s Tribunal and a Trust to receive public complaints, encourage public officials who work against corruption, and minimise wastage due to corruption, the release stated.
