Johnny wants New Zealand to be a Sathosa customer

BY LAL GUNASEKERA

Minister of Cooperatives and Internal Trade Johnston Fernando says Sri Lanka could make arrangements to export essential commodities, including food items, to New Zealand, through Sathosa.

The Minister revealed this when he met New Zealand Minister of Fisheries, Small Industries and Agriculture David Carter at his Ministry on Friday (23).

Minister Fernando said that Sri Lanka was importing milk products from New Zealand and that country, too, could assist Sri Lanka in the same manner by purchasing essential items from Sri Lanka.

Minister Carter spoke about his country’s milk production and exports with Minister Fernando commenting that Sri Lanka was confident of being self-sufficient in milk in the next few years. Carter said that it was possible for New Zealand to assist Sri Lanka in reaching self-sufficiency in milk and would extend its cooperation to that end.
