Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva yesterday said that he would not permit the sale of meat in the Kelaniya electorate from Jan. 01, 2013.

Addressing a public meet in Kiribathgoda, after flagging off a cycle race organised by the Kiribathgoda Youth Association, he said that Kelaniya was a sacred area and hence the sale of any kind of meat would not be allowed in future.

Minister Silva claimed that there had been unprecedented development in Kelaniya since he was appointed organizer for the electorate, with new infrastructure and new roadways.

"The JVP has joined hands with the UNP in a mud-slinging campaign against the government," he added. (NP)
