Factory employees revolt against management

Two Police constables were injured and hospitalised yesterday, when a group of factory employees, in Horana, pelted stones at a police party which arrived to settle a dispute between the workers and the management.
Around 100 employees were demonsreating against their management and had become unruly outside the factory premises. When the Police arrived and attempted to sort out the issue, they were attacked with stones, Police spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody told The Island last night.
The two constables, from the Horana and Moragahahena police stations, had been admitted to the Horana hospital. Ten factory employees hadalso been arrested in this connection, he said.
The two policemen warded at the Horana hospital had sustained only minor injuries and it was still unknown when they would be discharged. Meanwhile, the ten suspects would be produced in Court today, police said.
