Overflowing Park Road pipeline discharges excreta!

Residents of Park Road and Fife Road are up in arms over the new drainage line, connecting the main drainage line at Park Road, Colombo 5, overflowing and scattering excreta all over the road.

This overflow enters the drain line ending up at the canal, which may be a severe health hazard to residents and others using that section of the road and the under ground drain pipeline ending at the canal is damaged in many sections and reptiles have been observed living inside it, residents point out.

The Colombo Municipal Council does not appear to be interested in sorting out the problem until some unforeseen damage is caused to persons and property.

Fife Road is a public road of 40-foot width, only unto the Isipathana road junction, but almost half these 40 feet, up to Park Road, has been taken up by illegal constructions of boundary walls.

This has been causing severe problems to all road users who use the nerd road by the canal bank, to enter Havelock road.

Fife Road from the Park Road junction up to the Myanmar Embassy residence is 40 feet wide, but thereafter, almost up to the Wellawatta canal bank, its almost half this 40 feet, with trees growing and walls are being constructed within this road reservation.
