KANDY – While police are investigating into the case of Ven. Bowatte Indaratana Thera who set himself on fire on Vesak full-moon morning under a Bo Tree in Kandy a group of Sangha and Laywers staged a walk in Kandy town yesterday (27) afternoon in support of the demands put forward by Indaratana Thera.
The walk organized by an organization Mahanuwara Bodu Ekathuwa (Kandy Buddhist Union) passed along the streets and ended up at the Bo tree, where the late Indaratana Thera (31) set himself ablaze.
A religious ceremony in memory of the late Thera including a Mathaka Wastra Poojawa and Pen Veduma was held under the Bo Tree.
Ven. Udawatte Nanda, former JHU parliamentarian and Liyanwala Sasanaratan Thera and Central provincial Council member (JHU) Thushara Swarnatilaka spoke.
