Charred body of schoolgirl found shrub

KANDY – A badly burnt body of a 15-year-old schoolgirl was found in a shrub jungle, outside her home at Udadumbara, by the Ududumbara police on Tuesday (30) morning.


Acting on information provided by a resident of the area, police visited the scene and commenced investigations.


The deceased has been identified as Ruwanthi Kausalya Dissanayake, daughter of a retired army officer and of a Samurdhi Niladharini of the division.


Ruwanthi Kausalya was a student at Navodya School in Udadumbara.


A magisterial inquiry was conducted by the Acting District Judge of Teldeniya Sarath Premawansa and the body was sent to the Kandy General Hospital morgue for a postmortem examination by the Kandy Judicial medical Officer (JMO).


Further investigations into the mystery death of the girl are being conducted by Udadumbara police, led by OIC, IP Kapila Dissanayaka.


Investigations are being conducted on the directions of Senior DIG H. N. B. Ambanwala and SP T. M. U. Tennakoon.
